Lady Justice
With Seamus done I continued some Malifaux painting and finished Lady Justice
Malifaux
Started something new – Malifaux. Actually I have been doing this for a while now, but with the move and all I didn’t have the time to mention it yet. I have been peering over at Malifaux for quite some time and GW’s last rounds of price hikes and customer terror have lead me to dig out my WarmaHordes as well as to finally buy into this. If you don’t know what Mailifaux is all about you might want to check the website, very nicely done. Essentially it’s a steampunk, gothic, horror game set in an alternative timeline round about the Victorian age (I guess). The world knows magic but is losing the ability to use it rapidly when a breach opens into a parallel world. That world contains what is called Soulstones which empower magicians to again use magic so this parallel universe becomes all important. The main feature of that parallel universe is the city of Malifaux, apparently abandoned. In truth it is claimed by the Neverborn, one of the factions of the game. Very nice gaming features, tremendous models, nice fluff and, as oppossed to Games Workshop, cheap as dirt.
The pictures are the Red Chapel Gang, Seamus, a Resurectionist, and some of his zombies.
Warhammer Historical Sale
Warhammer Historical are doing a Sale which currently slashes 50% off of their rather pricey rulebooks and decals. One of their latest releases is the highly praised Kampfgruppe Normandy rulebook. There is also the classic Warhammer Ancient Battles book as well as stuff focusing on the Napoleonic area as well as the King Arthur legend, Roman Gladiators and even the Wild West.

Move complete
That’s right, I moved. From my apartment into a house together with my girlfriend. During the summer we expanded the attic to get another two roms, one of which now is the hobby room. Very exclusive I might add
Now for the daunting task of having to unbox another twenty or so boxes just with my hobby and IT stuff. Once that is done I’ll post some pictures of a Warhammer Fantasy Warriors of Chaos army I painted up during the renovation breaks, should be a good 2500 points, and some more Dystopian Wars.

Failcast and an epic monologue on hills
Wayland have removed GW’s Finecast from their range for the time being, stating that they sampled their deliveries and had issues with a staggering 55% of their sample size of 60. Story and pictures are here.
On a lighter note, and again from the Beasts of War website, Darrell did this review of Citadel’s modular hill and his musings on mountains and hills are absolutely brilliant.
Update: Wayland are now stocking Finecast, I still can’t see the reasoning behind the ridiculous pricing though.

Beasts of War on Finecast
Long time no see, finished some projects, a WHFB Warriors of Chaos army, some more Dystopians Wars models, a FoW British 8th Army for Africa and Italy, pictures will follow. However, whilst browsing for some vids I found this brilliant review of GW’s Finecast series.
Dystopian Wars
Totally Death Korps or even Games Workshop unrelated:
You have probably heard about Spartan Games‘ newest brainchild, Dystopian Wars, check it out if you havn’t. I was intrigued by it ever since first hearing about it on the Wayland website but I never got around to actually buying it, usually faltering when having to decide on a side to choose. I recently got around to reading all of the fluff posted on Spartan’s website and finally also visited their webshop where Spartan have a very nice Megabundle avaliable for 125 Pounds which Wayland does not have on offer. IIRC it also comes with free shipping.
The bundle includes Naval Groups for all four factions released to date, some bombers and fighter tokens for each side as well as the actual rulebook and some booster cards. There are also fitting options included for capital ships. Models are made of resin with some metal parts, fortunately there’s very limited metal though, and no glueing is requirred, and they are done extremely well. The level of detail is amazing and the sheer qualitiy is terrific, nearly no excess resin stuck to the models, very easy to clean, I had my four boxes cleaned and primed after just one hour. After Chapterhouse this would be another company Forgeworld’s quality control ought to contact regarding manufacturing processes.
After priming all models received some airbrush love. I tried to stick with the colour schemes suggested by Spartan, however I couldn’t bring myself to painting Her Majesty’s fleet in that awful zebra look. Now the models will need some touching up and washing, but I’d already feel comfortable using them as they are now. Doing these shots just now I again realized how low grade my camera is, I should really see if I can get a better one but it’ll have to do for now. Once the models are done I’ll be posting an update. Now to find people in Germany who actually play this
GW publishes Spearhead
Just in case you missed it, GW has published the entire Spearhead Expansion, which previously was only available in White Dwarf, on their website.
Astorath and Mephiston
You might remember me mentioning that we played a 30k points Apocalypse battle last christmas, me playing my Blood Angels. Funniest thing happened whilst preparing for that. Not only do I seem to have lost some Sanguinius Priests I painted last summer, I also could not find my Mephiston anymore. “Blood Angels without the Lord of Death?”, you say. ‘Course not, I went out and bought a new one, painted him up and he was good to go to battle. And whilst I was at it I also finished my Astorath just in time for the main event, here are the pictures, hope you enjoy.
Tervigon
And last but not least, two Tervigons using the Chapterhouse conversion kit, including some attempts at getting more detailed shots from their stomach area where the brooding Gants within their intestines can be seen through the skin. As I said, this is an excellent kit, well worth the money.
